Grey literature from a library perspective came to the forefront in discussions through the National Science Foundation’s case study. It was interesting to see their analysis from a collection standpoint to understand increases and spikes in obtaining grey lit, highlighting the need to have full-cycle records management within every government entity.
Moving to digital, but how do you get there? There are plenty of options to consider, with an equal if not more amount of questions to answer. For government information it starts with what was published and what was not and flows all the way to how can we digitally preserve and give indefinite free access? Everything in between includes: identifying grey information, digital delivery, metadata, search and discovery, digital repositories, credibility and authoritativeness, open access, and more.
